Some travel impressions from Bogota, after my short visit to Leticia and Tabaninga (Brazil<\/a>).<\/p>\n

The pics are random. But they should give you an impression of Bogota and the magic of the candelaria district. I love Colombia. Tourist are coming now. I never understood the hype about Cartagena. Sure, super great diving, but the city sucks. My places were always, besides villages like Finlandia, Salento or St Augustin,\u00a0 Cali, Medellin and, my love BOGOTA. Many people don’t like Bogota. It lacks the heat of Cali. It lacks the beaches of Cartagena. It lacks the all-year-around spring weather of Medellin. It is comparatively cold. Furthermore, it is high, very high., around 2500 m above sea level.\u00a0 Breathing may be difficult at times. Actually, I got Covid-19 in Bogota (don’t ask). The combination of being very high and already having problems breathing AND having covid-19 was a real adventure. Due to the high attitude, gasoline does not totally combust, and you may smell the gas in the air. But it is a city. A city of over 7 million, with a rich culture, a crazy nightlife, art, culture, design, food and the magic district Candelaria. Ever heard of \u201cNietzsche from the Andes<\/a>\u201d? Yes, he was from Bogota too.<\/p>\n

One of my favorite buildings in Candelaria below. Somebody claimed it was a prison before, but I doubt it. Maybe a monastry? Church?
\nThere are apartments inside now. 200k USD I was told, far higher than what you would expect for other apartments.<\/p>\n

Advertisement for a play. I don’t speak Spanish, but I read it as “Suicide is a moment of happiness”. Not sure about that, but sounds interesting.<\/p>\n

This is an extremely narrow alley, much too narrow for a car. I consider it the center of Candelaria.<\/p>\n

There are bars and the left and right. Music is stuck in the 80ies and 90ies. Bars there close early, even on weekends, it is not really a place to be after midnight.<\/p>\n

I always wondered, how much a loft there would cost. Strangely, I never found the entrance to this one.<\/p>\n
