How to make Facebook usable again and how to stop AI stealing your time and attention.

First question, do you really still need Facebook? Probably you don’t, but it is a decent way to stay in touch with people you have met.

Everybody you meet leaves a mark on you.
(Quote from a random acquaintance that I met in Luxembourg. He showed me around for one night.)

Ugo Bardi thinks Facebook is collapsing. Let’s be honest, Facebook has become a drain, it sucks out your attention by learning how to clickbait you.

If you still need it, install this plug-in: Facebook Social Fixer for Chrome Browser.

In the “Hide Post” option, put the following words:

All the AI blobs that stole your attention will be gone. Read a book instead. As mentioned in a previous post, skills that only a few people have will become very valuable in the future! One of these skills is to be able to focus on something, to have an attention span longer than 10 seconds.

“I’m very skeptical of books. I don’t want to say no book is ever worth reading, but I actually do believe something pretty close to that… I think, if you wrote a book, you f—ed up, and it should have been a six-paragraph blog post.” — Sam Bankman-Fried (skeptical of books).

Scammer Bankman seemed to have a very short attention span. Most people are not able anymore to read a book. But I agree that I have read books that indeed should have been a blog post, e.g. The World Is Flat: A Brief History of the Twenty-first Century

I know two things:

  1. There are hardly any people left who are able to focus on something.
  2. Skills that only a few people have will become very valuable in the future!
