This is Registan Square in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. One of the most impressive and famous ensembles of Islamic architecture in Central Asia. The three magnificent madrasahs (Ulugh Beg, Tilya-Kori, and Sher-Dor) date from the 15th to 17th century and are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
